Nigerian-born professional rugby player, Daniel Igbinedion, has been jailed in the UK for subjecting his former girlfriend to a catalogue of abuse and even threatened to kill her.    Igbinedion, 26, was convicted of controlling and coercive behaviour and three charges of assault in October. The former West Yorkshire rugby league player was sentenced to three years and three months in jail on Tuesday, December 21.      Katy Lyles, 35, suffered repeated attacks by Igbinedion over two years, Bradford Crown Court heard. The court also heard that Igbinedion dragged the insurance broker out of a club and tore off her SmartWatch so she couldn't dial 999 before threatening her with a blade.  Hey baby mama; Banky W reacts court ruled that marriages conducted at Federal Marriage Registries, including Ikoyi Registry, are invalid.   Banky Wellington  has reacted after a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos ruled that it is unconstitutional for the federal government to conduct marriages. Based on the ruling, all weddings conducted at Federal Marriage Registries, including Ikoyi Registry, are "illegal and invalid". Banky W, who married Adesua Etomi 4 years ago in Ikoyi Registry, reacted on Twitter, jokingly telling Adesua she's his baby mama, not his wife. "So therefore @AdesuaEtomiW hey 'baby mama'."   Governor Wike sacks Health commissioner for hosting event without his consent. Governor Wike of Rivers state has sacked the state Commissioner for Health, Professor Princewill Chike, for not seeking the state government’s approval to host the preliminary session of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, in Port Harcourt, the state capital.  Governor Wike announced the sacking of Professor Chike when the Chairman of the MDCN, Professor Abba Wasiri Hassan paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday, December 13.     Justice A. T. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has convicted and sentenced a fake oil magnate, Dr Vincent Ayigor to a total number of 175 years imprisonment. He was convicted and sentenced for SCAMMING an American known as, Joseph Crews, the sum of $ 629,287 in a crude oil supply scam. Cute Abiola serving one-month punishment for ridiculing Nigerian police force –Navy The Nigerian Navy has arrested one of its personnel, OSCOMP Abdulgafar Ahmad, popularly known as Cute Abiola, on a one-month ‘extra duty’ for wearing police uniform in one of his skits and for ridiculing the Nigeria Police Force in the process.  The popular Instagram comedian was arrested on November 15, 2021, but has been released from detention to serve his ‘light corrective punishment’ in the cantonment.   Man commits suicide after losing company N150,000 to bet. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Tuesday said it was investigating the death of a man identified as Adegbite, who allegedly committed suicide after losing N150,000 to sport betting. The incident happened in Pegi in the Kuje area council of Abuja in November. Adegbite was said to have placed a bet with the money which his boss gave him to pay his colleagues, hoping to replace it after winning.  One of his colleagues at work, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Adegbite committed suicide after he lost the money. He said, “We were surprised when it happened. He was given the money to pay some people at his place of work. The money was in the region of N150,000.
